Building Safety Surveyor
Location: Bristol area. Regional Travel Required – South West England
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £49,535 inc car allowance

Role Overview
Are you passionate about keeping residents safe and ensuring homes meet the highest building safety standards? As a Building Safety Surveyor, you'll play a key role in delivering fire safety and compliance programmes across Anchor's portfolio. You'll lead the delivery of remedial works arising from Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), fire door inspections and compartmentation surveys, while also managing planned investment projects involving active fire protection systems.
Working closely with contractors, residents and internal teams, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on time and within budget, helping us create safer homes and communities for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the delivery of passive fire protection programmes, including fire door remediation, fire door replacements and fire stopping works.
* Oversee remedial actions arising from Fire Risk Assessments, compartmentation surveys and fire door inspections.
* Lead planned investment programmes for active fire safety systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting and Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) systems.
* Monitor contractor performance, ensuring quality, compliance, cost control and programme delivery.
* Carry out site inspections, quality audits and compliance checks.
* Maintain accurate project, compliance and certification records.
* Manage project budgets, forecasts and expenditure to deliver value for money.
* Act as a key point of contact for residents affected by planned fire safety works.
* Investigate and resolve resident queries and complaints, ensuring excellent customer service.
* Identify and escalate building safety risks and compliance concerns where required.
* Support continuous improvement through learning from audits, inspections and assurance activities.
Requirements
* Experience managing contractors and construction projects.
* Strong knowledge of passive fire protection systems, including fire doors, compartmentation and fire stopping.
* Working knowledge of fire safety legislation, regulatory requirements and health & safety legislation.
* Experience undertaking technical inspections and quality assurance activities.
* Knowledge of Leasehold and section 20 process.
* HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, Property, Building Safety or a related discipline.
* Fire Door Inspection Diploma.
* IFI Fire Stopping Diploma.
* Full UK Driving Licence.

- Qualification such as CIOB Level 6 in Fire and Building Safety, IOSH, NEBOSH, Project Management.
