Role: Business Development Manager
Location: Remote, with regular travel across the UK and Europe
Salary: Up to £75,000 depending on experience (OTE £120,000)
My client is an established and growing precision engineering and advanced manufacturing business, supplying highly complex components and assemblies into demanding sectors including aerospace, automotive, defence and motorsport.
We're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager, Sales Manager or Technical Sales professional with a strong understanding of engineered products and complex manufacturing environments.
You will ideally have experience selling into sectors such as aerospace, automotive, defence, motorsport or other highly regulated engineering industries.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement business development strategies to deliver ambitious growth targets.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities across targeted engineering and manufacturing sectors.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
Develop relationships with procurement teams, engineers, senior decision-makers and other key stakeholders.
Identify opportunities to introduce customers to the wider capabilities of the business, including precision casting, CNC machining, assembly, testing and associated engineering services.
Manage the sales process from initial opportunity through to negotiation and contract award.
Lead commercial negotiations and secure long-term customer partnerships.
Support the preparation of tenders, bids and commercial proposals alongside technical and quality teams.
Work closely with marketing to develop targeted strategies for specific markets and sectors.
Provide commercial input and direction to the wider business development and commercial teams.
Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, finance and quality teams to ensure successful customer onboarding and account development.
Monitor market trends, technology developments and customer requirements to identify new opportunities.
Skills and experience:
Proven experience in business development, technical sales or commercial sales within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
A strong track record of winning new business and developing existing accounts.
Experience securing high-value engineering or manufacturing contracts.
Ideally, experience working within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supply chain.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
The ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into commercially viable solutions.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Experience using CRM systems and managing a structured sales pipeline.
A proactive, self-motivated approach with the drive to identify and create new opportunities.
Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK and Europe.
