The successful Chartered Building Surveyor will join a respected practice delivering commercial, education, residential and heritage instructions across London and the South East. The firm has grown through long-standing relationships and gives senior surveyors direct access to its leadership team.
The Chartered Building Surveyor Role
The Chartered Building Surveyor will lead refurbishment and alteration projects while providing professional services including dilapidations, building surveys, party wall advice and defect diagnosis. You will manage instructions from initial brief to completion and act as a trusted point of contact for clients.
There is scope to mentor junior staff, develop existing accounts and shape your own route towards Associate level. The environment is collaborative and professional without the reporting layers or rigid service divisions of a large corporate practice.
The team is selective about the work it takes on, placing emphasis on clear advice, sensible workloads and long-term client relationships.
Surveyors are encouraged to bring ideas forward and improve how projects are delivered, rather than simply follow a fixed corporate process.
Duties of the Chartered Building Surveyor to include:
Lead projects as Contract Administrator and Project Manager
Prepare specifications, tenders and contract documents
Undertake pre-acquisition and condition surveys
Manage dilapidations and party wall instructions
Diagnose defects and advise on remedial works
Develop client relationships and repeat business
Review junior surveyors' work and support APC development
Contribute to fee proposals and team planningThe Person?
The successful Chartered Building Surveyor will be technically strong, client-focused and comfortable managing a broad workload.
The Chartered Building Surveyor will ideally have:
MRICS (or close to achieving)
A Building Surveying degree
Consultancy experience across project and professional work
Strong JCT contract knowledge
Commercial property or public sector experience
The ability to lead clients and consultant teams
An interest in mentoring and business developmentIn Return………?
