About the Homes
These are two brand‑new children’s residential homes supporting young people aged 11–17 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). Each home will care for up to two children, with a strong Registered Manager and a developing team structure including Deputy Manager, Team Leaders, RSWs, and Night RSWs. You’ll be joining at the start of the journey, helping shape culture, standards, and consistency from day one.
The Role
As a Team/Shift Leader, you’ll lead the day‑to‑day running of the home during your shifts, ensuring high‑quality care, safeguarding, and structure. You’ll support the team, oversee routines, and act as a senior point of contact when the Registered Manager or Deputy Manager are not on shift.
This role is ideal for experienced RSWs ready to step up or existing seniors looking for a fresh challenge in a new home.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead shifts and oversee daily operations within the home
* Provide guidance, support, and direction to RSWs and Night RSWs
* Ensure safeguarding, behaviour management, and risk assessments are followed consistently
* Support young people aged 11–17 with EBD through routines, activities, education, and appointments
* Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience, independence, and emotional stability
* Complete and quality‑check records, reports, incident logs, and daily notes
* Support with care planning, key working, and multi‑agency communication
* Maintain a safe, structured, nurturing environment aligned with Ofsted expectations
* Participate in sleep‑ins and on‑call duties
* Uphold the home’s ethos, values, and commitment to high‑quality care
Requirements
* Direct experience in children’s residential care is essential
* Strong understanding of EBD, trauma‑informed practice, and behaviour management
* Ability to lead a team confidently and professionally
* Good communication, organisation, and decision‑making skills
* Flexibility to work shifts, nights, sleep‑ins, and on‑call
* A driving licence is ideal
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Children & Young People) are beneficial — training and qualifications can be funded
