They’re now looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Community Development Worker to join their team in Eastbourne. You’ll play a key role in connecting, empowering, and supporting local organisations to grow and thrive — all while being part of a collaborative, supportive, and community-focused environment.
Our client offers:
Salary: NJC Scale 24 - £20,098.70 pro rata (£35,412 FTE)
Hours: 21 hours per week
Pension: 4% employer contribution
Holidays: Pro rata entitlement increasing annually plus statutory holidays

Collaborative and self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
Essential skills & experience
Strong understanding of the voluntary and community sector, including relevant policies and frameworks
Proven experience managing projects from concept through to delivery
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Confident user of Microsoft Office Suite and digital tools
A full UK driving licence and access to transport are required, as some travel across East Sussex will be necessary.
What will your role look like?
As the Community Development Worker for Eastbourne, you’ll:
Develop and deliver community networks, both in-person and online
Provide support and training on topics such as governance, funding, evaluation, and volunteering
Build and maintain strong relationships with local organisations and statutory partners
Identify community needs and facilitate engagement opportunities
Manage and distribute around £10,000 annually in community funding
Support programmes such as Beachy Head Ambassadors, Homes for Ukraine, Wealden Food Partnership, and Lewes District Cost of Living initiatives
Contribute to strategic planning, consultations, and reporting
Represent the organisation at local meetings and events
This position contributes to key community development goals, including leadership, collaboration, capacity building, and promoting volunteering.
