Design Engineer

📍 Doncaster

💰 40,000 to £46,000 depending on experience

A growing and forward-thinking business in Doncaster is looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who is looking to develop their career and grow alongside an expanding business. The company is keen to bring in someone with the right attitude, basic knowledge, and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Producing accurate material take-offs from drawings and project plans
Prepare, manage, and review project material budgets, BOMs and BOQs
Provide commercial input into planning, design, value engineering, and programme reviews
Support project and resource planning activities
Drive continuous improvement by identifying trends, inefficiencies, and repeat issues
Assisting with design, planning and reviewing groundwork and drainage requirements
Working closely with internal teams to ensure projects run efficiently and within budget
Supporting the wider commercial team with day-to-day project cost management

Skills & Experience

Experience producing material take-offs
Understanding of construction materials and project costing
Design experience within production/construction environment
Knowledge of drainage or groundwork plans and material take-offs would be highly desirable
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learningAbout Us
