Pump & Drainage Engineer
Location: Northwest
Salary: £34,000 – £40,000 Basic | OTE up to £45,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Pump & Drainage Engineer to join our growing team. This is a varied role combining drainage works, pump system maintenance, and reactive emergency call-outs across residential and commercial properties.
You will be responsible for diagnosing drainage issues, servicing pump systems, carrying out planned maintenance and delivering high levels of customer service.
This position also offers a clear progression pathway into senior engineering and supervisory roles.
Key Responsibilities
Drainage Works
  * Reactive drain unblocking (internal and external)
  * High-pressure water jetting
  * CCTV drainage surveys
  * Drain descaling and root removal
  * Minor drainage repairs and investigations
  * Planned drainage maintenance visits
  * Accurate job updates using PDA/tablet systems
Pump Systems
Installation, servicing and breakdown repair of:
  * Sewage pumping stations
  * Basement pump systems
  * Surface and foul water pump sets
Additional duties include:
  * Fault finding on pumps, floats, alarms and control panels
  * Emergency pump call-outs
  * Advising customers on system condition, compliance and upgrade requirements
General Duties
  * Completing risk assessments and safe systems of work
  * Confined space working (where trained)
  * Identifying and quoting additional works such as CCTV surveys, repairs or pump upgrades
  * Maintaining high standards of customer service and professionalism
  * Participation in the on-call rota
Essential Experience
  * Minimum 5 years drainage experience
  * Hands-on experience working with pump systems
  * High-pressure water jetting experience
  * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  * Full UK driving licence
  * Flexible to work occasional nights and weekends
  * Strong customer communication skills
Desirable (Training Provided)
  * CCTV drainage survey experience
  * Confined Space certification
  * Pump manufacturer training (Grundfos, Wilo, Lowara etc.)
  * CSCS card, NVQ or Mechanical/Electrical qualifications
Career Progression - We offer a clear and realistic career pathway:
Basic Salary £34k – £40k | OTE up to £45k
Must hold a valid UK driving licence and be eligible to work in the UK.
Role is subject to DBS, DVLA and credit check due to the nature of the work. (no more than six points on licence for minor offences)
