DT Technician

First For Education is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Dudley, and we are seeking a skilled and motivated Design & Technology Technician to support the DT department. This part-time role (4 days a week) is ideal for someone with workshop experience, practical skills, and a passion for supporting students’ learning.

You must have previous experince to be considered for this role

Key Responsibilities

  * 

    Prepare materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons

  * 

    Support teachers during practical sessions where required

  * 

    Maintain and oversee machinery, tools, and workshop spaces

  * 

    Ensure all equipment is safe, maintained, and compliant with health & safety standards

  * 

    Assist with stock checks, ordering materials, and managing resources

  * 

    Contribute to a well-organised and efficient DT department environment

What We’re Looking For

  * 

    Experience as a DT Technician or within a workshop/technical environment

  * 

    Good working knowledge of tools, machinery, and practical processes (e.g. woodwork, metalwork, CAD/CAM)

  * 

    Understanding of health & safety regulations within a workshop setting

  * 

    Organised, proactive and able to work independently

  * 

    A practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to support teaching staff

  * 

    School experience is desirable but not essential
