Job Description

Early Years Practitioner (SEN) North London | Full-Time/Part time | Term Time Only | September Start A warm and inclusive mainstream primary school in North London is seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join its specialist Autism Resource Provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young children in the Early Years Foundation Stage with Autism Spectrum Condition. The provision offers a nurturing, structured environment where pupils receive personalised support to help them develop their communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence while accessing an engaging early years curriculum. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SEND team and therapists to provide high-quality support tailored to each child's individual needs. The Role Support children with Autismand other SEN within the Early Years Autism Resource Provision. Happy to engage in child-led play to support communication, social development and early learning. Confident facilitating child-led play to encourage exploration, independence and positive engagement. Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to promote learning and development. Encourage the development of communication, language and social interaction skills. Support sensory regulation using visual timetables, structured routines and sensory resources. Assist with play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework. Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs. Foster independence, confidence and positive relationships. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider SEND team. Record observations and contribute to monitoring pupil progress. Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate Holds a Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years or Teaching Assistance (not essential) Has experience supporting children in an Early Years setting. Previous experience working with children with Autism (ASC) or additional needs is desirable. Has a patient, caring and nurturing approach. Understands child development and the principles of the EYFS framework. Can build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues. Is proactive, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
