Job Description – Electrical Engineer (Level 3)
Salary: £45,000 rising to £47,500 after successful probation
Hours: Monday–Friday, 42 hours per week
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Renewable energy / AD (Anaerobic Digestion) facility

A leading operator within the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) and renewable energy sector, responsible for the collection and transportation of food waste, oils, and fats recycling across the UK.
The organisation owns and operates multiple AD facilities, providing biological support, emergency response, and feedstock supply to sites nationwide. Its expertise in the AD industry allows it to handle a wide range of food waste and convert it into 100% renewable gas and electricity exported to the national grid.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Level 3 qualified Electrical Engineer with mechanical experience to join a supportive, values-led engineering team.
Purpose of the Role
The Engineering Team is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all AD food waste machinery, process equipment, buildings, and site civils. The team delivers proactive engineering to improve machinery efficiency through planned preventative maintenance and ongoing monitoring of the AD process via SCADA systems (Methane, H₂S content, tank foaming, etc.).
The individual must ensure:

High-quality maintenance and repair

A proactive approach to improving machinery performance
*
Participation in a site-specific call-out rota (typically 1 in 4)
Each AD site has three engineers, supported by the Head of Engineering who assigns work and deploys field engineers as required.
Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and enhance engineering systems and components in line with project and site requirements.
*
Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with site systems; log defects using the company engineering software.
*
Ensure sufficient inventory of required parts and consumables.
*
Carry out preventative maintenance on mechanical/electrical systems and maintain accurate records.
*
Complete planned maintenance tasks and log corrective actions.
*
Respond quickly to breakdowns, ensuring rapid rectification and timely system updates.
*
Assist the Head of Engineering in scheduling maintenance and improvement works.
Essential Candidate Criteria
*
Level 3 engineering qualification
*
Minimum 12 months' experience in a similar engineering role
*
18th Edition qualified
*
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
*
Skilled in developing and implementing safe systems of work
*
Experience using Maintenance Management Systems
Desirable Criteria
*
Forklift, Telehandler, or MEWP qualification
*
Fabrication or welding experience
