Job Description

Applebough is working alongside an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in the Coventry area to recruit a passionate and dedicated English Teacher (QTS) for a September start. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire and engage students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5), helping them develop a love of language, literature, and effective communication.

The Role:
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging English lessons that challenge and support students of all abilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent curriculum knowledge and a commitment to raising achievement through innovative and effective teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons in line with the national curriculum

  * Use a range of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning needs

  * Maintain strong classroom management and create a positive learning environment

  * Monitor, assess, and report on student progress

  * Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and departmental development

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  * Strong classroom management skills

  * Excellent subject and curriculum knowledge in English

  * The ability to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that motivate learners

  * A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

  * Strong communication and organisational skills
