We Are Hiring: Family Practitioner - Supported Housing 🌟 Location: Ilford Salary: up to £31,000 Hours: Full-time (primarily 10:00-18:00, with some evening/weekend shifts depending on service needs) Reporting to: Supported Housing Manager Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable families and helping parents build a safe, nurturing environment for their children? We are recruiting on behalf of a respected supported housing provider who is seeking an experienced and dedicated Family Practitioner to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of parents and babies living in supported accommodation. The role also offers the potential to work within a Residential Family Centre if required. 🌼 About the Role As a Family Practitioner, you will provide practical, emotional, and safeguarding support to parents and their babies, empowering them to develop the skills needed for independent living. You'll play a vital role in promoting positive parenting, healthy routines, and child development, while ensuring the safety and welfare of the children in the service. 🔑 Key Responsibilities Parenting & Child Support Build trusting relationships with parents to support emotional wellbeing. Promote positive parenting, healthy attachment, routines, and child development. Encourage engagement in play, learning, and age-appropriate activities. Provide guidance on safe sleep, feeding, health appointments, and daily care. Safeguarding & Risk Management Monitor the welfare of babies and identify any developmental or safety concerns. Carry out risk assessments and contribute to safety plans. Record and report safeguarding concerns in line with statutory procedures. Work closely with social workers, midwives, and health professionals. Promoting Independence Support parents with life skills such as budgeting, meal planning, and household routines. Provide advice on tenancy responsibilities and move-on options. Encourage engagement in education, training, or employment. Practical & Emotional Support Assist parents to attend appointments and community activities. Offer emotional support around mental health, relationships, or trauma. Facilitate workshops and group sessions that build confidence and parenting skills. Record-Keeping & Administration Maintain accurate case notes, support plans, risk assessments, and reports. Attend key working sessions, professional meetings, and reviews. Ensure all documentation meets audit and regulatory standards. Teamwork & Professional Development Participate in team meetings, training, and supervision. Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, supportive environment. Uphold high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and EDI principles.✔️ Person Specification Essential: Experience supporting vulnerable families, young parents, or children. Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and parenting support. Excellent communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in emergencies. Good organisational and record-keeping abilities. Relevant qualification in Social Care, Early Years, Youth Work, Health & Social Care, or related field. Ability to work independently and within a multi-agency team.Desirable: Experience in supported housing or residential family centres. Understanding of trauma-informed practice and mental health.
