Job Description

Compliance Surveyor — Fire Safety (Interim, 6 months)
Contract: Interim / 6 months
Reports to: Compliance Manager / Head of Property Services
Location: Borough-wide site visits
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Fire Safety Compliance Surveyor to support day‑to‑day fire safety across the council’s housing stock. You will deliver and oversee Type 1 Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), manage remedial works, and ensure robust, audit‑ready compliance records.
Key Responsibilities
  * Complete and/or manage Type 1 FRAs across blocks and sheltered schemes (~300 per year).
  * Commission and oversee specialist fire risk assessors; review and action recommendations.
  * Manage fire‑safety remedial works, from specification to completion.
  * Maintain fire safety registers, action plans and re‑inspection schedules.
  * Work with repairs, property, ASB and estates teams to coordinate access.
  * Provide clear reporting to the Compliance Manager and support updates to policy/procedures.
  * Ensure all works meet relevant H&S, quality and regulatory standards.
Required Experience & Qualifications
  * Fire safety compliance experience within housing or similar built environment (client-side preferred).
  * Experience delivering or managing FRAs or fire safety contracts.
  * Knowledge of relevant legislation/standards (e.g. Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, PAS 79).
  * Full driving licence and ability to travel across the borough
