Job Description

Functional Skills Teacher – English & Science (Permanent, Part-Time, Immediate Start, Swanley) We are working with a specialist SEN setting in Swanley that provides a structured, supportive environment for pupils with complex needs. The school focuses on building positive relationships, developing independence, and supporting each pupil to access learning in a way that is meaningful to them. They are seeking a committed Functional Skills Teacher to join their team on a permanent, part-time basis (3 days per week), starting immediately. This role involves delivering Functional Skills English and Science, working closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis, and supporting both academic progress and personal development. The successful candidate will be confident in planning, delivering and assessing lessons, while maintaining a calm and consistent approach to behaviour management. You will work collaboratively with staff to ensure pupils are supported in line with their individual needs and education plans. Key Responsibilities: Plan, deliver and mark Functional Skills English and Science lessons Provide 1:1 teaching and tailored support for pupils with complex SEN needs Implement individual learning plans and contribute to EHCP targets Support positive behaviour management using consistent, structured approaches Adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of learning needs Work closely with colleagues to maintain a safe, supportive learning environment Carry out additional duties appropriate to the role What the Role Offers: Permanent, part-time position (3 days per week) with an immediate start Opportunity to work in a structured, supportive SEN environment Small class sizes with a focus on individualised learning Collaborative team with a consistent and calm approach to behaviour Ongoing professional development and training opportunities A setting that prioritises routine, respect, and positive relationships This role is suited to a reflective and resilient Teacher who values consistency, structure, and inclusive practice.
