Job Description

Job Overview
We are currently seeking a Goods In Operative to join our client's team based in Bedford. The successful candidate will be working within the workshop and transport department, responsible for checking, unloading and organising hire equipment as it returns to the depot.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is practical, organised and has a good eye for detail.
Location: Bedford
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:30am–7:00pm
Salary: £12.71-£13.25 per hour
Responsibilities
  * Check returning hire equipment using a mobile phone app, including taking clear photographs.
  * Check the quality and accuracy of photographs provided by drivers.
  * Ensure the correct equipment is unloaded and stored in the correct location.
  * Keep unloading areas clean, clear and well organised.
  * Work alongside drivers to ensure the correct equipment is loaded for outgoing deliveries.
  * Carry out some local driving of a 3.5-tonne van.
  * Load inspected equipment onto company and third-party transport.
  * Check and put away incoming goods within the workshop stores.
  * Regularly clean, tidy and maintain the workshop and driver areas.
  * Provide support to the warehouse, workshop and driving teams when required.
Qualifications
  * Previous experience in a transport, warehouse, workshop or similar environment would be advantageous.
  * Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately at pace.
  * Good IT skills and confidence using mobile apps.
  * Practical approach with the ability to quickly learn and identify different types of tools and equipment.
  * Full UK driving licence.
  * Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.
  * Good communication and organisational skills.
The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, reliable and willing to take ownership of their work, with a positive attitude and willingness to help across the wider team.
