Job Description

Sewell Wallis searching for a Group Financial Controller to join a family-owned, and rapidly growing Distribution business based in North Leeds, West Yorkshire.
 
 The company is a market leader within its sector, with ambitious plans for continued expansion through strategic acquisitions that have already been identified which should increase turnover by x3 over the next five years. 
 
 Following a recent merger, they are looking for an experienced finance leader to oversee three entities, support upcoming integration and merger activity, manage day-to-day financial operations, and take ownership of statutory accounts, audit processes, and wider group reporting requirements.
 
 The business operates within the distribution and supply-chain sector, so industry experience would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical finance background, excellent treasury management experience, strong commercial acumen, and exposure to acquisitions and mergers.

What will you be doing?

Lead the Group month-end close, multi-entity consolidation, and production of accurate, timely management accounts and Board reporting.
Maintain robust financial controls, ensuring balance sheet integrity, compliance with UK accounting standards, tax requirements, and statutory reporting.
Develop and embed financial governance, policies, risk management, and audit-ready controls across the Group.
Manage cash flow, working capital, treasury activities, and short-term forecasting to optimise liquidity and financial performance.
Support budgeting and forecasting by providing accurate financial data, validating assumptions, and ensuring reconciled actuals.
Partner with the CFO on acquisitions, due diligence, post-acquisition integration, and financial reporting alignment.
Drive continuous improvement of finance systems, reporting processes, and controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Lead, develop, and mentor the finance control team, establishing consistent standards, accountability, and collaboration across the Group.What skills are we looking for?

Qualified Accountant - with a strong technical background (ideally practice trained)
Comfortable leading on statutory accounts, audit, tax requirements and consolidations.
Supply-chain, manufacturing, distribution and logistics experience would be beneficial (although not essential)
Integration experience, having mergers or decentralized finance operations into a group function
Strong treasury and cash management experience
Experience working at Group Financial Controller levelWhat's on offer?
