Head of Supply Chain
Location: Bedfordshire
Salary: £70,000 – £110,000 DOE + Package

Our client is a well-established main contractor delivering repairs, maintenance, and planned works within the UK social housing sector. Due to continued growth and contract expansion, they are looking to appoint an experienced Head of Supply Chain to lead and develop their subcontractor and supplier network.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the supply chain supports operational delivery across responsive repairs, voids, and planned maintenance programmes while driving value, quality, and long-term partnerships.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Head of Supply Chain will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s supply chain strategy, managing key subcontractor relationships, and ensuring the organisation has a robust and scalable supplier network to support current and future contracts.

The successful candidate will work closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure subcontractor performance, materials supply, and procurement processes align with the business’s growth plans and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  * Develop and implement the company’s supply chain strategy to support operational delivery and business growth.

  * Build and manage strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and service partners across repairs, maintenance, and planned works.

  * Lead procurement activity including supplier selection, negotiation, and contract agreements.

  * Ensure the supply chain has the capacity and capability to deliver across multiple social housing contracts.

  * Establish and manage supplier performance frameworks, including KPIs, compliance, and service standards.

  * Work closely with operational teams to support contract mobilisation and ongoing delivery.

  * Identify opportunities to drive cost efficiencies, innovation, and improved service delivery.

  * Ensure supply chain compliance with health & safety, regulatory, and ESG requirements.

  * Lead and develop the procurement and supply chain team.

Requirements

  * Proven experience in a senior supply chain or procurement leadership role within social housing, construction, or property maintenance.

  * Strong experience managing subcontractor supply chains in repairs and maintenance environments.

  * Demonstrable commercial and contract negotiation skills.

  * Experience building and managing strategic supplier partnerships.

  * Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across operational and commercial teams.

  * A strategic thinker with the ability to deliver practical operational solutions.

Desirable

  * Experience working with housing associations or local authority contracts.

  * Professional qualification such as CIPS (or working towards).
