Head of Technology Architecture
 Hybrid - UK (London, Oxford or Edinburgh offices)
 Salary up to £90,000 + excellent benefits

Applause IT are hiring an experienced Head of Technology Architecture to lead the evolution of enterprise technology architecture within a nationally recognised professional organisation undergoing significant transformation.

This role will play a key part in modernising a complex technology environment, improving integration between platforms, strengthening data architecture, and shaping a clear long-term technology roadmap.

The organisation currently operates a diverse technology estate supporting membership services, learning and examinations, digital platforms and internal business operations. The Head of Technology Architecture will be responsible for creating a coherent architectural approach across these platforms while ensuring systems remain secure, reliable and scalable.

Working closely with the Business Transformation leadership team, the Head of Technology Architecture will help rationalise systems, establish architectural standards and guide technology investment decisions that support the organisation's long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Define and lead the organisation's enterprise technology architecture strategy
Design and govern the target-state application and integration architecture
Rationalise a fragmented application landscape and improve system integration
Introduce strong architectural principles, standards and governance
Lead the design of integration approaches including API-led architectures
Establish robust data architecture practices including data governance and common data models
Oversee cloud and infrastructure architecture to ensure resilience and scalability
Provide architectural oversight of security frameworks and technology risk
Lead architectural due diligence during technology procurements
Manage strategic supplier relationships and ensure technology platforms align with long-term strategyTechnology Environment

The organisation operates a varied enterprise technology landscape including:

CRM and membership platforms
Learning and examination systems
Finance and business systems
Digital platforms and websites
Data and reporting environments
Cloud infrastructure and identity servicesA key focus of the Head of Technology Architecture will be improving integration between systems, simplifying the technology estate and ensuring reliable, high-quality data across platforms.

About You

We are seeking a senior technology professional with strong enterprise architecture experience and the ability to operate at both strategic and practical levels.

You may currently work as a Lead Enterprise Architect, Principal Architect, Head of Architecture, or similar role where you have shaped technology architecture across complex environments.

Key experience includes:

Strong experience in enterprise or technology architecture
Experience designing integration architectures and API strategies
Understanding of data architecture and data governance practices
Experience working with cloud-based technology environments
Knowledge of identity, security and enterprise platform design
Experience working within multi-vendor technology environments
