Dear Health and Safety Manager,
Are you tired of being used as a human-shield by your senior management?
Are you frustrated that you are only ever listened to when an incident occurs?
Are you frustrated that you are only ever listened to when an audit is due?
Do you feel disappointed that you can see the operational and commercial benefits of a great H&S culture but your SLT view your work as a cost not a benefit?
Do you feel your management ignore how the work force feel when Health and Safety is seen as just a necessary evil?
Are you capable of making safe operations a productivity boost?
Are you able to make safe working the behavioural and cultural norm rather than a preparation for an audit?
Can you enthuse the people to align with a culture where H&S literally sits beside the Operations and Engineering leaders?
Do you have experience of light manufacture or assembly?
Are you progressing, or do you want to progress, towards becoming a Chartered member of IOSH?
Have you continued your professional development from NEBOSH Certificate and beyond?
Can you explain the difference between a lagging indicator and leading indicator and which is most important to cultural shift?
And can you implement them and make them work?
Can you work with a manager who has high expectations of you to create a culture of H&S behaviour (not rule adherence) as the norm? – really think about that one before you apply!
Can you grow beyond Health and Safety and support the Quality Manager with the Assurance side of their work?
Could you take responsibility for ISO 14001 too?
Do you want to lead our shift towards becoming a leading ESG organisation?
Have you experience of auditing for ISO 18001 or better still ISO 45001, ideally ISO 9001 or 16949, and ISO 14001? Yes that’s a lot and they are an ideal, but the OHSAS are the must haves.
