Job Description

Our client, a reputable commercial vehicle operation in Ilkeston, is seeking to appoint a skilled HGV Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced HGV Technicians to work within a stable and supportive workshop environment, offering long-term job security and ongoing technical development.

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire
 Salary: Up to £45,000 Basic + Bonus + Benefits
 Hours: 45 Hours Per Week
 Contract: 24 Month Fixed-Term Contract (Likely Extension)

Varied work on HGV and LCV fleetsDuties of the HGV Technician:

Servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and LCVs
Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT testing
Conducting six-week safety inspections and scheduled servicing
Diagnosing faults using modern workshop diagnostic tools
Mechanical and cosmetic repairs as required
Completing warranty repairs aligned with manufacturer guidelines
Replacing and fitting vehicle components safely and efficiently
Providing breakdown support when necessary
Maintaining accurate workshop documentation and compliance records
Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with DVSA and company standardsRequirements of the HGV Technician:

Proven experience working on HGVs within a commercial fleet environment
Experience working on LCVs advantageous
City & Guilds Commercial Vehicle qualification or equivalent preferred
HGV driver’s licence beneficial but not essential
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Reliable, hardworking, and well-organised approach
Positive attitude with a willingness to develop skills
Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mentality
