Job Description

About us: Independent Housing UK Ltd: * Registered charity who provide intensive housing management and tenancy support to vulnerable adults. * Works closely with local authorities, relevant commissioners, and partners such as the NHS, Police etc * Provides approximately 500 homes for vulnerable people. * Offers vulnerable people the opportunity to rebuild their lives or have a better quality and an independent life. * Operates successfully in a number of national locations. Purpose of the Job: To effectively manage the designated Project(s) ensuring that staff are appropriately supported and that the service provides a customer focused environment which is led to a high standard. Key Responsibilities: To ensure that the housing support service is managed effectively. * To ensure that the service provides a safe, customer focused environment that utilises a holistic approach to support. * To provide effective management of staff within the service, ensuring appropriate oversight of caseloads and requirements regarding the evidence of support provision. * To ensure that the service operates within it’s budget taking action where appropriate to address variances. * Create an effective balance between housing officers and support workers to ensure best possible outcomes for customers. * Ensure that safeguarding’s, incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and responded to appropriately. * To ensure that the service meets it’s key performance indicators, addressing any barriers appropriately. * Provide reports and data as required by the Head of Operations. * Report all maintenance and health and safety concerns to the Maintenance Manager and SLT if appropriate support customers to do so. * Oversee and report on house meetings when needed that support workers may undertake in partnership with the Housing Officer. * To monitor service referrals, usually from commissioned IHL services, working in collaboration with the managers of these services and the area housing manager, advising your manager of any significant delays. * To audit customer files frequently ensuring that all required paperwork is to a high standard and submitted to partner agencies in a timely manner when needed or requested. * To observe practice providing appropriate feedback to staff through one to one’s and appraisals. * Assist Senior managers in responding to internal/external audit ensuring that any actions are completed in a timely manner. * To authorise the termination of support to any individual in coordination with the housing management team and all other interested parties. * To provide advice and guidance to teams in other projects where required due to absence / holiday. * To participate in stakeholder meetings providing feedback to teams and other managers as appropriate. * To participate in regular review meetings of the service with the Support Services Manager (SSH) * To participate in regular team meetings involving project managers of services that may refer into this service with a focus on move on and increased independence. * Participate in on call out of hours service. Leading the Team · Recruit, lead, supervise, motivate and manage the team so that the service is delivered in line with IHL’s policies, procedures and ethos. · Ensure that the team are trained and motivated to carry out tasks to the highest standard, carrying out regular one to one’s to ensure that required standards are met in line with agreed targets. · Coach individuals and teams to perform to the best of their ability · Give ongoing feedback on performance and effectively manage poor performance · Carry out employee appraisals, probationary reviews, identifying development needs and ensuring that training plans are written, actioned and monitored for the team. · Manage disciplinary, grievance, harassment, performance and absence management investigations and processes for the team and assist in these procedures for other services where an independent manager is required. · Implement IHL’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures. Ensure that all practices are undertaken in accordance with ensuring a healthy and safe working environment and that all employees are aware of their responsibilities in respect of their role. · Actively promote non-discriminatory behaviour to ensure equal opportunities for all. Challenge perceptions and behaviour and lead by example to promote equality and diversity at all levels within the team. · Provide support and guidance to all team members · Encourage the team to achieve a positive work / life balance General · Carry out your duties in accordance with IHL’s policies and procedures. · Provide an excellent level of customer service both within IHL and for the general public and external bodies. · Carry out your duties in a safe and proper manner both for yourself and for the well-being of others in accordance with IHL’s Health and Safety Policy. · Take a ‘continual improvement’ approach to work, actively working in partnership with our customers and participating in service reviews and improvements. · Work within the ethos of IHL and promote the IHL’s mission, vision and values. · To promote IHL in a positive and professional manner. · To ensure that all information is kept up to date and is stored in line with IHL’s policies and procedures and GDPR regulations. EDUCATION, TRAINING, SKILLS AND WORK EXPERIENCE Essential Requirement Good level of literacy, numeracy and I.T skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Experience of working within a support project or similar service. Experience of working with and supporting vulnerable people. Experience of working with those with addiction and/or poor mental health. Experience of managing diverse teams and workloads. Desirable Requirement Experience and awareness of legislation governing safeguarding and mental capacity.
