Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Cannock (Fully On-Site)
We’re working with a well-established and growing organisation looking to hire a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of their core infrastructure environment.
This is a hands-on, senior-level role focused on designing, building, and improving infrastructure rather than simply supporting existing systems. You’ll work closely with the Head of Technology and act as a key technical lead within the team, playing a key role in both day-to-day operations and longer-term improvements.
The Role
This position is centred around ownership and delivery. You will take responsibility for both the network and server environment, acting as a senior escalation point while also driving improvements across the estate.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and implementing infrastructure solutions
* Owning network and server environments
* Acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues
* Supporting and guiding other team members
* Driving continuous improvements across a largely on-prem environment
Alongside this, there are several upcoming projects which will provide strong technical exposure, including a network refresh, improvements to backup and disaster recovery, a telephony rollout across multiple sites, and longer-term cloud initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
We’re specifically looking for someone who has built and delivered infrastructure environments, not just maintained them.
You’ll bring strong technical capability across:
* Networking (firewalls, switching, routing)
* Windows Server and Active Directory
* Virtualisation (VMware preferred)
* On-prem or hybrid infrastructure environments
In addition, you’ll likely have:
* Experience owning or leading infrastructure projects
* A hands-on, delivery-focused background
* Strong troubleshooting capability across complex environments
* A clear and confident communication style
Important to Know
This is a fully on-site role based in Cannock and will suit someone who enjoys being hands-on and close to the environment. It is not a cloud-first or DevOps-focused position, and is better suited to someone with a strong infrastructure and networking background.
