Job Description

We’re working with a large, well-established primary school in the BS9 area that has a strong reputation for inclusive practice and high-quality SEN provision. They’re looking for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants who can confidently support pupils with a range of additional needs, both in the classroom and within dedicated support spaces. The role This is a varied SEN support role where no two days are the same. You’ll be working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff to help pupils access learning in a way that works for them. The school has a structured and well-resourced approach to SEN, including: Dedicated intervention spaces and nurture-style provision Clear routines and consistent behaviour approaches across the school A focus on communication, emotional regulation, and independence You may be supporting: Pupils with Autism (ASC), including those who benefit from structured environments and visual support Children with ADHD and attention needs Speech, language and communication difficulties SEMH needs, including pupils who require support with emotional regulation Pupils working below age-related expectations who need targeted intervention Support could include: 1:1 support for pupils with EHCPs Small group work focused on communication, literacy or social skills In-class support to help pupils stay engaged and on task Working within resource bases or quieter provision areas where needed What we’re looking for You’ll need to be confident, consistent, and comfortable working in a busy primary setting where SEN support is a key priority. We’re looking for someone who: Has solid experience supporting children with SEN Understands different needs and can adapt their approach accordingly Can manage behaviour calmly and proactively Builds positive, trusting relationships with pupils Works well as part of a wider team This is a good fit for someone who enjoys structure, understands the importance of routine, and can offer steady, reliable support to pupils who need it most.
