Learning Support Assistant - Tower Hamlets

Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Start Date: September 21st 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Pay: £100-£120 per day

A welcoming primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a caring and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join its support team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant who enjoys working closely with children and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO, you will provide a mixture of classroom and targeted support, helping pupils to access learning and develop their confidence and independence.

The role will involve:

Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
Helping children remain engaged and focused during lessons
Supporting literacy, numeracy and targeted interventions
Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Developing pupils' confidence, communication and independence
Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement individual support strategies
Helping create a calm, inclusive and positive classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is patient, reliable and naturally encouraging, with the confidence to support children who may require additional help with learning, behaviour or communication.

Previous experience working with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs would be advantageous, although the school will consider candidates with strong mainstream primary experience and the right attitude.

You may be an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or a graduate looking to develop a career in education, psychology or SEND.
