Learning Support Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Learning Support Assistant to work closely with a small group of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Hillingdon. The role involves providing structured, targeted academic, sensory and pastoral support to help pupils access the curriculum, build confidence and develop greater independence in their learning.
You will support pupils through a combination of 1:1 and small-group activities, targeted interventions and sensory-based activities, depending on their individual needs. You will work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to ensure effective support strategies are in place and that pupils are given the appropriate support to make progress.

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver focused learning interventions under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCo
* Provide learning support across different areas of the curriculum
* Support pupils to engage with lessons and complete learning tasks
* Deliver and support sensory activities to promote regulation, engagement and learning
* Support pupils with attention, communication, social and emotional development
* Support pupils to develop their communication and interaction skills
* Provide structured activities linked to individual pupil targets
* Record observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews
* Work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to implement individual support strategies
* Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and develop an understanding of their individual needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience working with children with SEN or additional needs
* An understanding of sensory needs and sensory-based activities
* A flexible and adaptable approach to working with pupils with different needs and abilities
* A calm, patient, supportive and consistent manner
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* The ability to build positive relationships with children and understand their individual needs
* A genuine passion for supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing
* The ability to follow individual targets, strategies and support plans
* A proactive approach and willingness to get involved in a range of learning and sensory activities
* A valid enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (UDS), or be willing to apply for one
* Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 LSA or TA) are desirable but not essential
