About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment at Pilning on a permanent, full-time basis.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils with their learning, development and general wellbeing, helping to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential within a caring and safe environment.
You will work closely with the Class Teacher and wider school team, providing tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. The role will involve supporting learning, promoting positive behaviour and independence, contributing to individual plans and helping pupils develop socially, emotionally, behaviourally and academically.
You may also have the opportunity to support the delivery of lessons, including modelling techniques and strategies and, where appropriate, team teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted support to individuals and groups of pupils under the direction of the Class Teacher
Differentiate and adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs
Reinforce learning concepts, model appropriate techniques and support pupils to access the curriculum
Support the implementation of individual learning plans, including educational elements of EHCPs
Monitor and record pupil attainment, progress, behaviour and engagement, providing meaningful feedback to teachers
Support pupils with developing independence, confidence and positive behaviours
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, helping them to feel safe, supported and ready to learn
Support positive behaviour management and respond appropriately to behaviours that challenge
Assist with the day-to-day running of the classroom and wider school activities
Contribute to behaviour flow charts, risk assessments and pupil support strategies
Provide appropriate personal care when required, including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating
Support pupils' health, wellbeing and welfare, reporting concerns or positive changes to relevant colleagues
Work collaboratively with teachers, colleagues, parents/carers, therapists and other professionals
Maintain accurate records relating to learning, behaviour, incidents and pupil wellbeing
Participate in planning, evaluation, reviews and meetings where required
Support therapy or care programmes under the direction of qualified professionals
Contribute to the wider life of the school and participate in relevant activities and events
Attend required training and actively engage in professional developmentRequirements:
Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
At least one year's experience working as a Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant or equivalent
Relevant experience supporting pupils with SEN
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Experience managing a range of behaviour approaches, including behaviours that challenge
Previous experience within an educational setting is advantageous
Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills
Competent ICT skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
Positive, creative and flexible approach to meeting individual pupil needs
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals
Commitment to putting the needs of the child first and treating each pupil as an individual
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, which can be challenging at times
