We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy automated distribution and materials handling operation. This role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities on a wide range of automated equipment to ensure maximum system availability and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and servicing of automated materials handling equipment.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-related faults.
Prioritise faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational performance.
Perform scheduled repairs in line with manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices.
Maintain conveyor systems, automated machinery, and associated equipment to ensure continuous product flow.
Accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
Ensure spare parts are maintained at appropriate stock levels.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
Work closely with operations to minimise disruption and maximise productivity.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and site procedures.
Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality at all times.
Requirements
ONC, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (electrical bias preferred).
Completed engineering apprenticeship is advantageous.
Experience maintaining automated machinery, conveyor systems, or materials handling equipment.
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
Basic understanding of PLC-controlled systems and automated controls.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Experience working to planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
Comfortable working at height where required.
Good IT skills for completing maintenance records and reports.
A logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
