Job Description

Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a very well-established, PE backed business based in Manchester City Centre to appoint a part/nearly qualified Management Accountant. The business has grown significantly over the last 2-3 years and are now consolidating and focusing on aligning processes and strengthening the team.

This role will support the business with the accurate and timely management accounts for the business, including budgeting, forecasting and analysis. The ideal candidate will have around 2 years’ experience in producing management accounts and will be interested in business partnering elements.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary £40,000 - £45,000 DOE, study support, hybrid working 3 days in the office, up to 10% 22 days holiday (rising to 25 with service), plus banks and your birthday off. Pension, healthcare and city centre location with fantastic tram/train/bus links.

Key responsibilities:

Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
Responsibility for P&L, balance sheet and cashflow management.
Monthly processing of accruals, prepayments and journals.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting and re-forecasting.
Production of statutory accounts and support for the annual audit process.
KPI reporting across the business, developing dashboards and reports.
Financial analysis to support decision-making, including ad hoc reporting.
Leading reviews with department leads to provide support and guidance and manage spends.
Assist with the external audit and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Streamlining and integrating finance processes across the group, identify opportunities to improve.
Driving continuous improvements in financial controls and reporting.
Other ad-hoc monthly reporting and financial analysis.
Professional qualification and competencies:

Preferably 2+ years’ experience in a similar Management Accounting role.
Part/nearly qualified CIMA/ACCA.
Experience in Sage/Xero would be beneficial.
Intermediate level of competency with Microsoft Excel.
Strong technical ability and familiar with UK GAAP.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail while working to strict deadlines.
Confident and collaborative, keen to build internal relationships.
Essential to have a common sense approach to dealing with problems.
Proactive attitude to resolving issues.
