Job Description

Mechanical Construction Manager
📍 Location: Cambridge
💼 Contract / Permanent | Competitive Day Rate / Salary

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join a major £200m construction project.

This is a key leadership role on a flagship development, responsible for managing mechanical packages from installation through to commissioning and handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  * 

    Lead and manage all mechanical construction activities on site

  * 

    Oversee subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are delivered in line with programme

  * 

    Drive health & safety standards and ensure full compliance across all mechanical works

  * 

    Coordinate with project management, engineering teams, and other trades

  * 

    Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to maintain programme targets

  * 

    Manage QA processes, inspections, and commissioning of mechanical systems

  * 

    Attend and contribute to site meetings, reporting on progress and performance

  * 

    Ensure all RAMS, permits, and documentation are in place and adhered to

Requirements:

  * 

    Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager on large-scale construction projects

  * 

    Strong background managing mechanical packages on complex developments (HVAC, pipework, plant rooms etc.)

  * 

    SMSTS (essential)

  * 

    CSCS Card (Black or equivalent preferred)

  * 

    Strong knowledge of installation, commissioning, and handover processes

  * 

    Excellent leadership and communication skills

  * 

    Ability to manage programme and coordinate multiple trades
