Job Description

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Colchester, Essex

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading UK provider of industrial noise and vibration control solutions. Our projects range from small-scale installations to multi-million-pound engineering solutions, offering variety, challenge, and opportunity to make a real impact.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  * Designing noise and vibration control products, from doors and screens to full enclosures, using CAD software.

  * Producing 2D and 3D models for client approval, fabrication, and installation.

  * Conducting ventilation analysis (CFD) and producing reports for project teams and clients.

  * Preparing complete design packages including BOMs, specifications, installation drawings, and as-built documentation.

  * Collaborating with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure seamless project delivery.

  * Ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations and company health & safety standards.

  * Continuously improving design efficiency and product quality.

  * Occasionally visiting project sites, clients, or suppliers as required (expenses covered).

What We’re Looking For:

  * Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD LT (or similar).

  * Experience with sheet metal fabrication and CFD simulation.

  * Some exposure to PDM software.

  * Qualified to HND or degree level in an engineering discipline.

  * Full, clean driving license.

  * Conscientious, proactive, and committed to personal development and team success.
