Design Engineer
 Location: Colchester Area
 Salary: £36,000-£45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Our client, a specialist in design, manufacture, and installation of electrical power equipment, is seeking a Design Engineer to support their existing team. Projects range from £2,000 to £2.2M and include doors, screens, and enclosures, primarily within steel fabrication environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with Project Teams and subcontractors through conception, design, manufacture, and installation phases

Produce accurate 2D drawings for client approvals and 3D fabrication & installation drawings

Conduct ventilation analysis (CFD) and produce reports for client approval

Prepare full design packages including BOMs, design specifications, installation drawings, and as-built documentation

Assist with RAMS and site installation packs

Occasional site visits to clients, suppliers, or subcontractors (overnight stays may be required)

Skills & Experience Required:

HNC or Degree in an engineering discipline

Experience in an engineering design environment using AutoCAD and SolidWorks

Knowledge of CFD simulation

Familiarity with PDM software

Practical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication

Must reside within a commutable distance to Colchester and have own transport

Working hours: Monday-Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm, Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
