Mechanical Maintenance Engineer c£37k + Bonus

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing company in Cambridgeshire. This is a varied, hands-on role within a busy factory environment, working on a wide range of production and fabrication machinery.

This position would suit a practical engineer who enjoys fault finding, preventative maintenance and keeping production running efficiently. While some basic electrical knowledge is useful, the role is primarily mechanically focused.

Permanent position | Fully onsite / car required to get to the site

Key Responsibilities

  * Maintenance and repair of site machinery including mills, lathes, drills and sheet metal fabrication equipment

  * Planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support

  * Installation and assembly of new machinery and equipment

  * General site maintenance including basic electrical work and plumbing

  * Supporting continuous improvement and quality engineering standards across the site

  * Working with hand tools, polishers, heaters and general workshop equipment

Skills & Experience Required

  * Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on training

  * Recognised engineering qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC or similar)

  * Mechanical maintenance experience within manufacturing, engineering or heavy industry

  * Strong mechanical fitting and fault-finding skills

  * Experience working with machine shop equipment (milling, turning, lathes)

  * Basic electrical knowledge advantageous but not essential

  * Proactive, practical and reliable approach

Salary & Benefits

  * £18.50 per hour (approx. £37,500 salary) + Annual company performance bonus

  * Regular overtime available (paid at 1.5x)

  * 20 days holiday + bank holidays (rising to 26 with service)

  * Company pension Life assurance

Working Hours (39 hours per week)

  * Monday: 7:30am – 4:00pm

  * Tuesday: 7:30am – 4:30pm

  * Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm

  * Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm (early finish)
