Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs? Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEMH school in Corby.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to thrive in an educational setting.

The Role:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support students both in and out of the classroom. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that enables students to engage with learning and develop positive coping strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs

Assist in managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques

Support students' emotional regulation and wellbeing

Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

Encourage engagement in lessons and promote positive learning behaviours

Ideal Candidate:

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or mental health challenges

Background in education, youth work, care, or psychology (desirable but not essential)

Calm, patient, and resilient approach

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to remain composed in challenging situations

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
