Rate: £25.00 per hour

Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible (as required)

About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Plumber to join our Facilities and Maintenance team, supporting both Newcastle Racecourse and Sedgefield Racecourse. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of plumbing maintenance, repairs, and installation work across our racecourse facilities, ensuring that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson who enjoys working in a varied environment and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship.

 Key Responsibilities 

Carry out planned and reactive plumbing maintenance across both racecourse sites.
Diagnose and repair faults within water, drainage, heating, and sanitation systems.
Install, maintain, and replace plumbing fixtures, fittings, and pipework.
Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies and minimise operational disruption.
Conduct routine inspections of plant rooms, water systems, and associated equipment.
Assist with preventative maintenance programmes.
Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation and industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
Liaise professionally with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Support wider maintenance activities when required.

Skills & Experience Required 

 Essential 

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Plumbing.
Proven experience in commercial and/or domestic plumbing maintenance.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of current plumbing regulations and health and safety requirements.
Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
Full UK driving licence.
Good communication and customer service skills.

Essential

NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing.
CSCS Card
Experience within large commercial, hospitality, leisure, or public venues.
Knowledge of heating systems and plant equipment.
Water Regulations or Legionella awareness training.
Multi-skilled maintenance experience.
