This is a fantastic long-term cover position with the potential to become permanent, offering you the chance to make a lasting impact on the education of children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. In this role, you will be responsible for providing PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) cover for classroom teachers, ensuring that pupils continue to receive a high-quality and consistent education in their absence. You will be supporting students in the primary age group, tailoring lessons to their individual needs, and working closely with a team of teaching assistants and other professionals to create a nurturing and effective learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across various subjects during PPA cover time, focusing on the individual needs of students. Work alongside the teaching assistants to support students with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH, ensuring their learning and well being are effectively managed. Implement and adapt lesson plans as necessary to accommodate the diverse learning styles of students. Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback on achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement. Foster positive relationships with students, building their confidence and supporting their emotional and social development. Contribute to the development of individual learning plans and behavioural strategies, in collaboration with the wider teaching team. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and parental consultations as required. Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive. The Ideal Candidate: Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has experience or a strong interest in working with children with special educational needs. Experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH is highly desirable but not essential. A patient, calm, and flexible approach to teaching, with the ability to adjust to different student needs and classroom dynamics. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving and classroom management. Passionate about working in an SEN environment and supporting children to reach their full potential. What We Offer: The opportunity for the role to become permanent after long-term cover. A supportive and collaborative work environment with a dedicated and friendly team. The chance to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. Ongoing professional development and opportunities to grow within the role.
