Production Engineer (Electronics)

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Engineer to join our electronics manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving production processes, supporting new product introduction and driving continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.
Working closely with Research and Development Teams, Production, Design, Quality, and Supply Chain, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing processes for electronic products used in a wide range of industries, from Oceanographic Research, Oil and Gas Exploration, Aerospace and Defence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies and products.
Problem solving on the line – component level fault finding and structured analysis to identify longer term production and performance issues
Work with manufacturing and supply teams on all issues and problems of a technical nature, driving these to full root cause with sustainable corrective actions in place
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including process validation and production readiness working with the Engineering and Project teams.
Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and process flows.
Assist in the selection, installation, and optimisation of production equipment and tooling.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Involvement in the analysis of new and existing designs to ensure DFM & DFA criteria is met.
Review, update, write and clear and concise work instructions (SOP’s) for use by the Operations area.
Create and update configuration control documents and all product manufacturing standard times.
Write and review process FMEA & control plans and complete Risk Assessments, close the loop on identified actions.
Develop mid to long range improvement plans for both product and process, working with the relevant stakeholders
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
Experience with process improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong analytical and organisational abilities.
You will need to be able to obtain SC Clearance to secure this role.Desirable
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
Experience supporting NPI projects.
Six Sigma Green Belt or similar qualification.What We Offer
