Job Description

I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a well-established electrical manufacturing business with strong links to MOD projects, who are looking to appoint a confident and hands-on Production Team Leader to take ownership of a busy production cell. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Team Leader to join a highly regulated environment where quality, compliance, and teamwork are critical to success.

 As a Production Team Leader, you will play a key role in leading day-to-day operations within an electrical production environment. This Production Team Leader position goes beyond simply hitting targets — it requires someone who can lead from the front, support and develop their team, and ensure that production standards are consistently achieved in line with strict industry and customer requirements. The Production Team Leader will report directly to the Production Manager and be central to maintaining performance, quality, and delivery.

 In this Production Team Leader role, your responsibilities will include:

Leading and supervising a team of technicians to achieve daily and weekly production targets
Allocating workload and managing staffing levels to ensure on-time delivery
Monitoring KPIs and reporting on production and team performance
Resolving production issues through effective cross-department collaboration
Conducting performance reviews and supporting development planning
Managing absence, timekeeping, and team discipline
Mentoring trainees and encouraging cross-training within the team
Carrying out root cause analysis and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Ensuring products are built in line with quality standards, manufacturing documentation, and customer requirements
Promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety across the production environmentTo be successful in this Production Team Leader position, you will need:

Proven experience in a Production Team Leader or similar supervisory role
Strong leadership and people management skills
Experience within an electrical or regulated manufacturing environment (MOD, defence, or similar highly desirable)
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
Experience using MRP/ERP systems
Confident use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to manage performance, prioritise workload, and solve problems independently
A proactive approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement and team developmentThis Production Team Leader role would suit someone who is organised, practical, and confident taking responsibility for both people and production performance within a structured and quality-driven environment.
