Overview

ELB Metalworks Ltd is a growing fabrication and engineering business specialising in bespoke and batch-produced metalwork solutions for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.

Operating from their facility in Hull, the business works closely with customers to deliver high-quality fabricated products, combining practical engineering expertise with a right-first-time approach to manufacture.

As part of continued growth, ELB Metalworks are now seeking to appoint a Project Engineer to take ownership of the engineering function across fabrication projects and support the delivery of technically robust, commercially-viable engineering solutions.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role that will play a key part in supporting project delivery, improving engineering standards and coordinating design activity within the business.

The Role

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing the engineering aspects of fabrication projects from initial enquiry and quotation through to manufacture and delivery.

Working closely with the workshop, suppliers and internal teams, the role will ensure that engineering outputs are clear, accurate and suitable for efficient shop-floor manufacture.

A key element of the position will involve coordinating and technically overseeing the work of a CAD Design Engineer, ensuring drawings and engineering documentation meet company standards and project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  * Producing detailed fabrication and mechanical engineering drawings using SolidWorks

  * Leading the engineering input across fabrication projects from enquiry through to production

  * Coordinating the work of a CAD Design Engineer, including task allocation, drawing review and technical guidance

  * Supporting quotation activities through Bills of Materials (BOMs), material take-offs and engineering input into manufacturing methods

  * Identifying cost-effective engineering solutions, materials and fabrication methods

  * Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing

  * Acting as a technical point of contact for the workshop, resolving engineering queries during manufacture

  * Ensuring drawings and engineering documentation comply with internal quality procedures and customer specifications

  * Promoting design for manufacture and continuous improvement across engineering and production

About You

This role would suit an experienced Project Engineer or Senior Design Engineer with a strong background in fabrication and mechanical engineering environments.

You will be comfortable working in a hands-on engineering role, supporting both design and production teams while maintaining high standards of drawing quality and engineering accuracy.

Key experience includes:

  * Strong proficiency using SolidWorks for parts, assemblies and fabrication drawings

  * Experience working within fabrication, welding or mechanical engineering environments

  * Ability to produce clear, accurate drawings suitable for shop-floor manufacture

  * Experience supporting project quotation activities and material take-offs

  * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  * Confident communicating with workshop teams, suppliers and internal stakeholders
