Job Description

Project Manager (Mechanical Bias) – Pumping Projects

  * Reading & surrounding areas (Thames Water sites)

  * Up to £70,000 + Car/Allowance + 25 Days Holiday + Bonus

  * 40 hours per week | Full-time, Permanent

J3A Recruitment are working with a growing engineering business delivering pumping solutions across the Thames Water network.

With a strong pipeline of work secured, they’re now looking to bring in an experienced Project Manager with a mechanical background to take ownership of projects across the region.

This isn’t a sit-back PM role — you’ll be fully involved from cradle to grave, working closely with clients and internal teams to deliver pumping projects safely, on time, and to a high standard.

What you’ll be doing as Project Manager

  * Managing multiple pumping projects across clean & wastewater sites

  * Delivering works across pumping stations, upgrades, installs and refurbishments

  * Taking full ownership from initial client brief through to final handover

  * Carrying out site surveys, scoping works and putting together quotations

  * Producing RAMS, supporting design/fabrication drawings and planning delivery

  * Managing subcontractors, site teams and programme timelines

  * Client liaison throughout — being the go-to person on projects

  * Involvement in commercials, variations and NEC contract management

What they’re looking for

  * Strong mechanical background within the water industry

  * Experience working on pumping stations / pumping solutions is key

  * Proven track record managing projects end-to-end

  * Comfortable dealing directly with clients and stakeholders

  * Experience with NEC contracts and commercial awareness

  * Ability to manage multiple projects without things slipping

  * HNC / HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering preferred

  * Thames Water experience highly beneficial

  * SMSTS beneficial but not essential
