Job Description

Quantity Surveyor – Main Contractor – Immediately Available

Our client, a respected and growing Main Contractor, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Milton Keynes.

With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the commercial sector, our client continues to secure a healthy pipeline of work and is looking to strengthen its commercial function with the addition of a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys taking ownership of projects and wants to join a business that offers genuine career progression and long-term stability.

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring costs are controlled, risks are mitigated, and profitability is maximised.

Key responsibilities will include:

  * Managing project costs from inception through to final account.

  * Preparing valuations, applications for payment, and cost reports.

  * Procuring and managing subcontractor packages.

  * Negotiating subcontract terms and final accounts.

  * Managing variations and change control processes.

  * Producing accurate forecasts and cashflow reports.

  * Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.

  * Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

  * Supporting project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:

  * Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a Main Contractor.

  * A strong understanding of construction contracts, particularly JCT forms.

  * Experience delivering projects within the commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, or residential sectors.

  * Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.

  * The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  * Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (desirable).

  * Full UK driving licence.
