Smile Education are recruiting for an experienced School Cover Manager to start immediately for a School in Melton Mowbray. This is a permanent, part-time role (35 hours per week) on a term-time only basis. Hours are 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The Role:
As a School Cover Manager, you will oversee the daily management of staff cover across the school, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of colleagues. When not organising cover, you will take on the duties of a Cover Supervisor, supporting students directly in the classroom.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate short- and long-term cover arrangements across teaching and support staff.
• Liaise with teachers, support staff, and leadership to ensure smooth operations.
• Act as Cover Supervisor when not managing cover, supporting students in lessons.
• Maintain accurate records and use cover management systems effectively.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies.
• Communicate clearly with staff, students, and parents as required.
• Work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced school environment.
Requirements:
• Experience working in a school environment, preferably in cover management.
• Knowledge of cover management systems is desirable.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident in the classroom and comfortable supporting learning.
• Subject to Enhanced DBS Check / satisfactory references.
