Secondary SEMH Teacher – Rochdale Secondary SEMH Teaching Opportunity – September 2026 Cover People are seeking a Secondary Teacher with SEMH experience to join a specialist school in Rochdale. The school is looking for a patient, confident and adaptable teacher who can engage pupils who may have faced barriers to learning and help them make meaningful progress. This is a full-time, long-term role starting in September 2026, with the opportunity to move into a permanent position. Role Details Position: Secondary SEMH Teacher Location: Rochdale Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, long-term, with potential for a permanent role Working Hours: Monday to Friday Daily Rate: £160–£230 DOE Teachers from mainstream settings are encouraged to apply where they have experience working with pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, additional needs or challenging circumstances. Your Responsibilities • Deliver engaging and accessible secondary lessons, adapting your approach to suit individual pupils and their learning needs. • Establish clear routines and a positive classroom culture where pupils feel safe, respected and able to participate. • Track pupil progress and contribute to individual targets, EHCP outcomes and wider support plans. • Develop positive relationships with pupils and help them build confidence, resilience and independence. • Work alongside Teaching Assistants, pastoral colleagues, senior leaders and other professionals to provide consistent support. • Apply effective behaviour management strategies, responding calmly and consistently to challenging situations. • Encourage pupils to re-engage with education and develop the skills they need for their future. • Contribute to staff meetings, training sessions and other activities across the school. We’re Looking For • QTS, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification. • Previous experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEMH or additional needs is highly desirable. • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm and consistent. • A flexible teaching style and the ability to differentiate learning effectively. • Someone who can build genuine, positive relationships with young people. • A collaborative approach and the confidence to work closely with a wider support team. • A resilient, enthusiastic and nurturing attitude towards teaching. What You’ll Need • An up-to-date CV covering your complete education and employment history. • Proof of Right to Work and UK address. • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one. • A minimum of 2 professional references. • A professional and reliable approach to your work.
