We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist education setting in Thrapston, Northamptonshire, supporting secondary-aged pupils who require a more personalised and supportive approach to their education.

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 support and work with small groups of secondary-aged pupils.
* Support pupils who may experience barriers to learning, disengagement from education and behavioural challenges.
* Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
* Help create a positive, supportive and structured learning environment.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
* Support pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
* Assist with behaviour management using positive and consistent strategies.
* Encourage pupils to engage with their learning and develop confidence and independence.
* Work closely with teachers and other members of the school team to support individual pupil needs.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people at all times.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
* A minimum of 6 months' experience working within a school or education setting in the UK.
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, Autism and/or ADHD would be highly desirable.
* Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils.
* DBS registered onto the Update service
* A calm, patient and resilient approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
* Confidence in supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or have difficulties engaging in education.
* A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
