Teaching Personnel is seeking an empathetic, resilient and innovative Secondary SEN English Teacher to work within an Alternative Provision partner school in the DY11 area. This setting specialises in supporting learners who have disengaged from mainstream education and thrive in a bespoke, nurturing and highly personalised learning environment, where care, respect, individual attention and tailored curriculum pathways are central values.
About the Role
You will deliver engaging, creative English lessons to pupils with SEMH, ASD and ADHD, using small-group teaching and trauma‑informed, relational approaches to re‑engage learners. Teaching is structured around innovative, bespoke curriculum pathways, often including therapeutic work, functional literacy, project learning and outdoor education.
Implement EHCP targets and Individual Pupil Passports.
Build consistent, trusting relationships that enhance pupil confidence and resilience.
Collaborate with support staff and pastoral teams to maintain a calm, inclusive learning environment.
About You
Qualified English Teacher with PGCE or QTS (essential).
Confident supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD and ADHD needs.
Calm, patient and relational in your practice.
Creative, adaptable and reflective.
Passionate about re‑engaging vulnerable learners in education.
Requirements
PGCE or QTS (required).
DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
Two professional references.
Right to work in the UK.
