SEN English Teacher – Specialist Secondary Provision

Bury – BL9 

Full-Time Position – Monday to Friday | Long-Term Opportunity

A specialist secondary provision in Bury is seeking a committed and adaptable English Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, autism and learning difficulties, and provides a structured environment focused on engagement, consistency and progress.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and understands the importance of building strong relationships with pupils who may have previously struggled in mainstream settings.

The role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering English lessons to small class groups, allowing for a more tailored and personalised approach to teaching. The role involves adapting the curriculum to suit pupils’ individual needs, supporting both academic progress and emotional development.

You will work closely with experienced Teaching Assistants and pastoral staff to ensure pupils are supported holistically throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
 • Differentiating work to meet a range of abilities and needs
 • Supporting literacy development and confidence in reading and writing
 • Managing behaviour in a calm, consistent and structured manner
 • Working collaboratively with support staff and SEN specialists
 • Monitoring progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly

The ideal candidate

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
 • Has experience teaching English at secondary level
 • Is confident supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs
 • Has strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
 • Is available full time, Monday to Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
