SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire Salary: £80 - £110 per day (Dependent on Experience) Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term Start Date: September 2026 Application Closing Date: 21st August 2026 Supply Desk are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our welcoming specialist schools in Salisbury. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs, helping them to develop academically, socially and emotionally within a nurturing and inclusive environment. Working alongside experienced teachers and specialist staff, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring they are fully engaged in learning and able to reach their individual potential. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about making a positive difference every day. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs. Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and other additional needs. Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities. Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and social development. Support positive behaviour using consistent and nurturing strategies. Build positive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, valued and motivated to learn. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents and external professionals. Help monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual learning plans where appropriate. Requirements Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an education or SEND setting. A genuine passion for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs. Calm, patient and adaptable approach to supporting learning and behaviour. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative. A commitment to creating an inclusive, positive and supportive learning environment. Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential for candidates with suitable experience. Why Apply?
