Job Description

Zen Educate is looking for a dedicated and active SEN Teaching Assistant to join a unique specialist education centre in Bristol.

This is a full-time, long-term role starting as soon as possible. Due to the nature of the school’s curriculum—which focuses heavily on community access, outdoor learning, and vocational transitions—it is an essential requirement that the successful candidate is a confident driver with a valid UK driving licence.

Location: Bristol area Salary: Competitive daily rates (Paid weekly) Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Requirements: Must be a driver with a clean UK licence

The Role: Learning Beyond the Classroom

This provision supports students with a variety of complex needs, including Autism (ASD) and Learning Difficulties. Unlike a traditional classroom setting, a large portion of the week is spent engaging in community-based activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  * 

    Educational Transport: Safely driving students to various off-site locations for vocational training, life-skills sessions, and outdoor activities.

  * 

    1:1 Mentoring: Providing consistent emotional and academic support to help students build independence.

  * 

    Community Integration: Helping students navigate real-world environments, such as local shops, travel hubs, and work-experience placements.

  * 

    Behaviour Support: Utilising positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to support students during transitions and in public spaces.

  * 

    Progress Tracking: Working with the teaching team to record developmental milestones and social goals.

What We Are Looking For:

  * 

    Driving Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is mandatory. Experience driving larger vehicles (like a minibus) is a bonus but not essential.

  * 

    SEN Experience: Previous experience supporting children or young adults with ASD, ADHD, or complex needs.

  * 

    Resilience & Energy: This is an active role that requires someone who enjoys being out and about and can stay calm under pressure.

  * 

    Reliability: Because you will be responsible for transport and off-site safety, punctuality and commitment are vital.

  * 

    Communication: Ability to build strong rapport with students who may have communication barriers.
