Senior SEND Assessment & Review Officer Location: Remote  Contract: Temporary Recruitment Agency: We Do Social Work Recruitment We Do Social Work Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Senior SEND Assessment & Review Officer to join a SEND Assessment and Review Team. This is a senior casework and oversight role for an experienced SEND professional who can confidently manage complex cases, provide guidance to colleagues and ensure statutory processes are progressed effectively and within required legal timescales. The Role As a Senior SEND Assessment & Review Officer, you will provide senior oversight across statutory SEND processes, including EHC needs assessments, annual reviews, reassessments and phase transfers. You will be responsible for monitoring case progression, identifying risks and delays, supporting colleagues with complex casework and undertaking quality assurance to ensure work is compliant, consistent and of a high standard. You will also hold a small caseload of complex, sensitive or high-profile cases, including matters involving complaints, mediation and tribunal activity. Key Responsibilities Monitor and track EHC needs assessments, annual reviews, reassessments and phase transfers to ensure statutory compliance. Identify delays, risks and barriers to progression and take appropriate action to resolve them. Provide advice, guidance, coaching and professional challenge to Assessment and Reviewing Officers. Support colleagues in navigating complex SEND cases and interpreting relevant legislation and statutory guidance. Monitor team performance and promote accountability to ensure cases progress appropriately. Undertake quality assurance of EHC Plans, casework and decision-making. Manage a small caseload of complex, sensitive and/or high-profile cases. Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, schools, health and social care professionals. Contribute to performance monitoring, service improvement and reporting. Support the wider team to deliver timely, effective and legally compliant SEND services. About You We are looking for an experienced SEND professional with a strong understanding of statutory SEND processes and the ability to operate confidently at a senior level. You will have: Significant experience of SEND statutory processes and EHC Plans. Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice. Proven experience managing complex SEND casework. Experience providing advice, support and professional challenge to colleagues. Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. The ability to analyse complex information, make sound professional decisions and work to tight statutory deadlines. A strong understanding of the importance of timely, child-centred and outcome-focused SEND practice. Desirable Experience Experience in quality assurance, supervision or team leadership. A relevant qualification in education, SEND, social care or a related discipline. Why Apply?
