Senior Configuration Engineer

Location: Hertfordshire

Job Type: Perm, hybrid

About

Our client is looking for a Senior Configuration Engineer to join their engineering team in Hertfordshire. You will be responsible for controlling and managing product configuration data for complex engineering products, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams.

This role would suit someone with a background in configuration management or technical data control within aerospace, defence, or a similar regulated engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  * 

    Control and manage engineering and product configuration data

  * 

    Interpret and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for large and complex assemblies

  * 

    Prepare and manage configuration management documentation

  * 

    Manage and implement engineering design changes through formal change control

  * 

    Support and present changes at change control boards / meetings

  * 

    Support supplier and internal audits, ensuring CM processes are followed

  * 

    Ensure accuracy and integrity of engineering data, drawings, and CAD models

  * 

    Work closely with engineering, project, and functional stakeholders

Skills & Experience Required

  * 

    Background in Configuration Control or Technical Data Management

  * 

    Experience within Aerospace, Defence, or similar engineering industry

  * 

    Strong understanding of Configuration Management principles

  * 

    Experience managing engineering change control

  * 

    Ability to interpret technical drawings and BOMs

  * 

    Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

  * 

    Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

  * 

    Experience using PLM systems, ideally PTC Windchill

  * 

    Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment
