Senior Java Engineer
Cardiff (Hybrid Working) 
Up to £68,000 + Bonus 

CPS Group are supporting an established technology organisation in Cardiff with the recruitment of a Senior Java Engineer to join their growing software engineering team. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Java Developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring other engineers and contributing to the design of modern, scalable software solutions. 

Working within an Agile environment, you'll take ownership of complex features from design through to delivery, remaining hands-on throughout the development lifecycle. Alongside writing high-quality code, you'll mentor junior developers, contribute to architectural discussions and help drive continuous improvement across the engineering function. 

The Role:

* Designing and developing complex Java applications using modern engineering practices. 
* Leading the delivery of key software features from design through to implementation. 
* Producing technical designs and documentation to support development. 
* Reviewing code and maintaining high engineering standards across the team. 
* Mentoring and supporting junior and mid-level developers. 
* Collaborating with Product Managers, Architects and fellow Engineers to deliver scalable software solutions. 
* Identifying opportunities to improve performance, security, scalability and reliability. 
* Contributing to CI/CD processes and engineering best practices. 
* Exploring modern tooling, automation and AI technologies to improve software delivery.

Skills & Experience 

* Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java and Spring Boot.
* Experience designing and delivering complex software solutions. 
* Strong knowledge of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL. 
* Experience working within Agile software development teams. 
* Passion for writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code. 
* Experience mentoring developers through code reviews and technical guidance. 
* Strong understanding of software performance, scalability and engineering best practices. 
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 
* Experience with AWS cloud technologies. 
* Exposure to React and TypeScript.
